Celebrating 5 years of HappyMomentzz Part 5

Hello everyone!
HappyMomentzz 5th Anniversary Celebrations is on and Thank you all ,  for all the support and appreciation!

and Today on my blog we have very well known Craft personality sharing a Tutorial inspiration with you all

None other than Hussena ,
Over to her now

This is Hussena here and I am so excited to be invited as a Guest Blogger for Sharada's Happy Momentzz's 5th Anniversary  party!

I have been a crafter and a blogger for more than 5 years now and I started my creative journey with Quilling as my base. I guess most of you are familiar with Paper Quilling. it's a beautiful art form and hence the name of my blog, 'Quill and Punch Works'. Though, I did start out with Quilling, I have since then branched out into punch-craft, working with dies and now stamps too! I am basically a card maker who also loves to dabble with Mixed Media and Altered stuff.

Here are my social media links.

Today, I'll be sharing with you a simple DIY project using a very common household item- which is a cereal box which I have upycycled into a gift bag. I know this idea is not very new, and has been done many times, but my process is a little different and hopefully you will enjoy this tutorial and give it a try :)

So, let's start with our project :

You will need :-
1. An empty cereal box. ( I have used one from Kellogg's Chocos- Small size).
2. White Chart Paper.
3. 12 X 12'' Pattern Papers of your choice.
4. Eyelets and Cord to make the handles of your gift bag.
5. Some die-cuts, paper flowers, embellishments to decorate. (This is totally optional).

Steps (1-4)
  • After selecting a cereal box of your choice, very delicately and patiently open the box completely on the bottom and from the side seams. Try to do this without tearing the paper.
  • Once the box has been opened completely, using a craft knife and a ruler, cut apart the top part of the box which consists of the flaps.
  • Now, trace the rest of the box (except the bottom part as shown in the picture) on to a chart paper using a pencil and a ruler and cut it out.
  • Now, score this paper according to the folds of the box, this will make it easier to bend the paper on the sides when you construct your bag! ( Refer to my picture below for an idea )

Steps (5-6)
  • Once you have cut and scored your chart paper glue it on the cereal box using any liquid adhesive. I have used fevicol.
  • Now fold the box into shape and glue the sides and for the base of the box measure and cut a small piece of chart paper in the approximate size of the box base and glue it separately.

Your box should look something similar to the one in the below picture.

Steps (7-8)
  • Once the box/bag base is ready you need to distress the edges of your box using Distress Ink of your choice. I have used Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink as it is very similar in color to the pattern paper that I have used to make my bag.
  • Once the edges are distressed it's time to add pattern paper. Cut your pattern paper 1/4 inch smaller than the size of the box size that you are covering.

Steps (9-10)
  •  Once the pattern paper is glued, it's time to embellish your bag with die-cuts of your choice and also add in your eyelets and handle of your bag before adding on all your embellishments.

Here's how now final bag looks like after I added the flowers and some foliage to it.

I hope you liked my project and will give it a try. These DIY bags are just perfect for gifting to any of your family or friends while at the same time helping to recycle a common household item which could otherwise be trashed :)

Thank you so much Sharada for inviting me over to guest blog. I really enjoyed it. Congrats on your 5th birthday and wishing you many more to come :)

Thanks Hussena for this awesome tutorial and  for all the love and support !

Celebrating 5 years of HappyMomentzz Part 4

Hi All,

Happiness is meant to be Shared

HappyMomentzz 5th Anniversary Celebrations is on

and Today on my blog we have very well known Craft personality sharing a Tutorial inspiration with you all

None other than Priya Sondhi

Over to Priya now

Hi All,
I was thrilled when Sharada asked me to be a guest blogger for her month celebrations as her brand "Happy Momentzz" is turning 5 this month!!

Isn't it amazing? Congratulations Sharada! Now a little bit about me.
I am Priya Sondhi from Priya-n-Papers!  I love all things papers! I started my paper crafting journey roughly 6 years back. I make cards, bookmarks, boxes, altered items, home decor, etc. I have been blogging for about 5 years now. I love making cards for my friends and family. The joy you get in sending some handmade love is priceless. I love trying out new techniques and try to stretch my supplies as much as possible.

Today I have something really interesting to share on how to make stunning backgrounds/papers for your projects by using very basic supplies. I have created a step by step tutorial for you to create 3 stunning backgrounds; stripes with gradient, zig zag background and rays background. Let's get started!

Making backgrounds using distress inks and Post-it notes :

1. Gather your supplies : you would need white cardstock, 2 distress inks (I used Peacock Feather and Mustered Seeds) and post it notes! That's it!

2. Background # 1 - Making Stripy with gradient : To make a strip of one color, keep 1 inch open and mask rest of the area with post it notes. Now, ink/blend peackcock feather starting from left to right. The key to add nice gradient is to put more pressure on left once you start and release the pressure on the paper while blending the ink from left to right.
Now, to add adjacent strip, take another 2 post it notes. stick one where blue color ends, keep 1 inch open for blending and hide the rest with seconf post it note. to add more fun, I altered the blending starting point. i.e. for blue, I started from the left and for yellow I started from the right. Here is a picture tutorial to help you understand the process better.

3. Background # 2 - Zig Zag blocks :
To create zig zag blocks, the key is no measurement! keep altering the width of the block from left to right and right to left for next block. It's really a fun technique where you can end up creating different backgrounds each time you zig zag between the widths. you can 3rd color if you want to or can also make a Rainbow effect! Here is the step by step tutorial for you.

4.  Background # 3 - Fun Rays:
I was scared before trying it. But believe me, it's easier than the other two backgrounds as you only need to concentrate on center point of rays. Follow the pictorial below for start to finish. The key to make a ray is stick 2 post it note in V shape, where tip of V will be the source of rays and you can widen the V as per your choice. To make next ray, stick the post it to the end of previous way. Again the tip of V should be same for all rays. For diffused rays effect, I applied more pressure towards the tip of V and started releasing the pressure as I move upwards.

Here are the finished cards I made using these fun backgrounds. I kept it simple by just adding stamped/colored images and sentiment from MFT's Adorable Elephants stamps set.

Aww they are soo adorable !!

Thanks Priya for all the love and support !

Celebrating 5 years of HappyMomentzz Part 3

All excited to share that my Brand HappyMomentzz completes 5 years of Online presence this May and I am Celebrating by sharing this Happiness with you all.....

Today on my blog we have very well known Craft personality sharing a Tutorial inspiration with you all

None other than Juhi Khanna

Over to Juhi now

Hello everyone!
I’m Juhi, I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of Happy Momentzz 5th Anniversary celebrations! Though I have been crafting in some form or the other since I was a child, I started making cards in 2009. My initial cards were layered, embellished ones with little or no stamping. I discovered stamping a couple of years ago and there’s been no looking back since then. My style is largely CAS with bright and happy colors. I love to learn and explore new stamping techniques with water coloring being my favorite right now.
You can find my work here:

I’m sharing a...you guessed it….CAS watercolor card with you today!

Here’s how I made it.

Steps to make the card

  • Starting with 4.25”x5.5” of Ranger pre-cut watercolor paper, stamp the larger solid flower with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink randomly over approximately one third of the panel.
  • Go over the stamped flowers with a wet brush before the ink dries up. Go beyond the border of the stamp, move the color around and soften the edges.
  • Using Picked Rasberry Distress Ink stamp the larger detailed flower stamp over the larger flowers and immediately go over them with a wet brush.
  • Now randomly stamp the leaves with Crushed Olive Distress Ink and soften the edges with a wet brush.
  • Stamp over some leaves with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and with Crushed Olive Distress Ink over some leaves. This will create the illusion of depth and overlapping leaves.

  • Using Spun Sugar Distress Ink stamp the smaller solid flower in the empty spaces. Stamp the smaller detailed flower in Mustard Seed Distress Ink randomly
  • Go over the entire stamped piece with a wet brush to soften the edges and move the colors to create a watercolor look.
  • Stamp the large butterfly from the set with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink and blend the colors with a wet brush. Once dry, stamp the butterfly again. I added another stamped and fussy cut butterfly over this one to add some dimension to my card
  • Stamp the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink
  • Finish the card by die-cutting the panel and mounting on white cardstock base with double sided foam tape and adding some clear sequins.

I hope you like my watercolor masterpiece…..with the right stamps anyone can watercolor like a pro!

Thanks Juhi for all the love and support !
